While the humanitarian tragedy grips the headlines, the unprecedented level of dangerous drugs flooding the border is already doing considerable damage. The threat is existential, but Texas is stepping up as the current administration stands down.

On August 24, the a Texas House Committee passed legislation that would triple what Texas spends on border security over the next two years. TPPF applauds the legislature and Governor Abbott for responding to a deteriorating situation along Texas’ southern border.

A 24-year-old Honduran immigrant who’s charged with murder in the brutal stabbing death of a Florida man had crossed the US border illegally months earlier while posing as an unaccompanied minor, an investigation by The Post found.

Yery Noel Medina Ulloa was busted Oct. 7 in Jacksonville when he was found covered in blood after allegedly killing Francisco Javier Cuellar, 46, a father of four who had taken in the immigrant who told authorities he was 17.

Police said they followed a trail of blood back to the victim’s home and arrested Ulloa, placing him in a juvenile detention facility.

It wasn’t until Oct. 13 that authorities learned his real identity — and his true age.

Ulloa, who turned 24 on Friday, had duped border authorities in Texas several months earlier by claiming he was a teenager named Reynel Alexander Hernandez — and even told his mom about the ruse.

“When he entered [the US] he told me, ‘Mommy, I didn’t go in with my name,'” his mother, Wendy Florencia Ulloa, told the Spanish-language Univision network. “‘I went in with the name of another person because right there at the shelter they helped me.”

In keeping with President Biden’s border policy on unaccompanied minors crossing the US border, Ulloa wasn’t turned away but instead placed in a shelter.

It is not clear how Ulloa ended up in Florida after being detained in Texas — or whether he was transported by way of the Biden administration’s secret flights to resettle underage immigrants, revealed in an exclusive expose by The Post last month.

The Biden administration recently turned nearly every community in America into an illegal alien sanctuary.

Under a new policy, federal immigration law enforcement is now largely prohibited from arresting criminal aliens in your neighborhood if you live near a playground, a recreation center, a school, a place of worship or religious study, a location that offers vaccinations (such as a pharmacy), a community-based organization, any location that hosts weddings (such as a civic center, hotel, or park), any location with a school bus stop, any place “where children gather,” and many more places that are common to most towns.

What used to be safe spaces for law-abiding Americans and vulnerable members of society have been transformed into safe spaces for violent offenders with no right to be in the United States.

The scope is virtually limitless and prohibits all of the authorities of U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) and U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP), such as “arrests, civil apprehensions, searches, inspections, seizures, service of charging documents or subpoenas, interviews, and immigration enforcement surveillance.”

Officers are prohibited from doing their job anywhere “near” a so-called “protected area,” an imprecise standard that Alejandro Mayorkas, the secretary of the Department of Homeland Security (DHS), admits has “no bright-line definition.” Mayorkas, who outlined the new policy last month, claims that putting a sanctuary in every community is a “noble” way to “advance our country’s well-being” and ensure that illegal aliens have access to “essential services” and can engage in “essential activities.”

ICE already had a sensitive locations policy that largely prohibited enforcement in religious institutions, at weddings, at hospitals, and at marked school bus stops when children are present, for example. -- excerpt, rest at link above --

U.S. Attorney General Merrick Garland is seeking to block removals of criminal aliens on mental health grounds – a dodgy move that circumvents the Administrative Procedure Act.

Deportations of criminal aliens have tumbled to historic lows as Homeland Security Secretary Alejandro Mayorkas, evidently on the same page as Garland, issued a memo directing U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) officers to consider any “mental condition [as]mitigating factors that militate in favor of declining enforcement action.”

Mayorkas’ memo and Garland’s maneuver fly in the face of a 2014 case decided by the Board of Immigration Appeals (BIA). There, the panel categorically ruled, “Mental health is not a factor to be considered in assessing whether [the alien]has been convicted of a particularly serious crime.”

Angling to overturn the BIA, which operates under his Justice Department, Garland is attempting an end-run around the Administrative Procedure Act (APA). By referring the matter to himself through a process called “certification,” the attorney general intends to dispense with the legal requirements for publishing proposed changes in the Federal Register and inviting public comment.-- excerpt, rest at link above --

Chartered jets carrying mostly minor-age, illegal immigrants into Scranton, Pennsylvania have attracted the attention of leading conservative lawmakers in the state, The National Pulse can reveal.

Congressman Dan Meuser as well as gubernatorial candidate Lou Barletta have urged immigration authorities as well as Governor Tom Wolf to explain what one source told The National Pulse were “ghost flights” into Scranton International Airport over the course of December.

The term “ghost flight” was used to describe the secretive nature of the flights, some of which arrived at night, without passenger manifests being made available.

Beginning on December 11th and set to conclude on December 30th, hundreds of what are believed to be underage, illegal immigrants have been flown into the Pennsylvania by U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE).

The flights are believed to have originated in Texas, with some stopping in Cincinnati, according to Jim Gallagher, president of Aviation Technologies Inc., the airport’s fixed-base operator.-- excerpt, rest at link above --

Border Patrol agents in Rio Grande Valley say they arrested at least seven illegal aliens with prior convictions for murder or sex crimes in less than a week.

Seven men hailing from Mexico and Central America were identified as dangerous criminals after being apprehended by border agents in Texas between January 7 and 11.

On Jan. 7, at around 3:00 p.m., Mexican national Edgar Antonio Barajas-Granados was picked up in Roma, TX.

“Barajas-Granados was arrested in Corpus Christi, Texas, for continuous sexual abuse of a child under the age of 14. Later that year, the 20-year-old was convicted of aggravated sexual assault of a child and sentenced to 300 community service hours and 10 years’ probation,” Customs and Border Protection (CBP) explained in a statement.

On Jan. 8, a 36-year-old Mexican male was apprehended with a larger group of illegals near Mission, TX.

The man had used various aliases during previous arrests in the U.S.

“In 2016, he was arrested for criminal sexual conduct with a victim between 13-15 years of age in Bloomington, Minnesota. He was convicted of the third-degree felony and sentenced to 36 months’ confinement and removed from the United States thereafter,” CBP said.

On Jan. 9, a 35-year-old Guatemalan male was being processed at the Brownsville Border Patrol Station when records revealed he had been convicted in 2013 in California for “sex with a minor under the age of 16 while being over 21 years old.”-- excerpt, rest at link above --

AUSTIN, Texas — The status of the promised investigation into horse-mounted Border Patrol agents accused by President Joe Biden of whipping migrants remains unknown more than four months later, and a report may never be released, Department of Homeland Security officials told the Washington Examiner.

The administration promised a quick review of the incident, but the lack of a conclusion vindicating or convicting mounted Border Patrol agents in Del Rio, Texas, for their behavior in preventing Haitian migrants from illegally crossing into the United States in September has prompted suspicion among DHS officials, who said the report should have been concluded by now regardless of the outcome.

“I doubt that the current administration will release this report on the horse patrol incident because it makes the administration look terrible,” the first DHS official said in a phone interview. “They essentially convicted the mounted agents based upon a lie, which the investigation after 120 days would surely have revealed."

"My experience would be that this would have been done within a period of weeks," the official said, adding that no agent had been disciplined to date.

A representative for the Border Patrol union, the National Border Patrol Council, told the Washington Examiner that there have been "no new developments whatsoever."

Homeland Security Secretary Alejandro Mayorkas vowed before Congress last fall to conclude within "a matter of days, not weeks," if agents were too aggressive in a highly publicized incident that took place as 20,000 Haitian migrants streamed across the Rio Grande from Mexico over a period of days in September. Mounted agents were photographed and filmed attempting to prevent people from walking across the river. The migrants ignored verbal orders to turn around, and the mounted agents rode along the riverbank, where migrants tried to get by them.

One agent was accused by third parties on social media of whipping someone. Before any investigation had been undertaken, top Biden administration officials condemned the federal law enforcement agent. Biden said people were “being strapped” in an “outrageous” way and vowed that “those people will pay.” Mayorkas said he was “horrified” by the images before later admitting that he reacted “without having seen the images” prior to commenting to the media.

A second DHS official said the agents fulfilled their job responsibilities and that if what they did on horseback was wrong, then the Biden administration ought to look at the conduct of mounted agents at police departments across major cities.-- excerpt, rest at link above --

After an historic year of illegal migrants entering the United States, the Biden administration has belatedly revealed the impact of another leg of its border strategy: a sharp reduction in arrests and deportations.

U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement reported Friday interior immigration arrests fell to 74,082 in fiscal 2021, down from 103,000 in 2020 and 143,000 two years ago.

Likewise, deportations fell a stunning 70% to 59,011 last year, the lowest number in 26 years. The lack of deportations marked a precipitous drop from the Obama and Trump years, when expulsions often topped 300,000 or more annually.

The Biden administration delayed the release of the statistics by three months, drawing the ire of some in Congress, and boasted in its new report it had markedly shifted toward fewer actions targeting immigrants with felony records.

"Approximately 49 percent of all arrests were of convicted criminals," ICE's annual report said, showing a substantial increase in arrests of criminal aliens and sex offenders over the Trump and Obama years.

A "targeted intelligence-driven operation" rounded up a total of "495 noncitizen sex offenders (compared to 194 over the same period in FY 2020) from 54 different countries," ICE said. "Of particular note, 80 percent of those noncitizens had victimized children."-- excerpt, rest at link above --
