Over the weekend, the mayor of Uvalde—a Texas town near the Mexican border—appeared on Tucker Carlson Today to give a closeup analysis of the border crisis.

Mayor Don McLaughlin discussed how Biden’s border policy has resulted in virtually open borders, leading to a crime increase and endangering everyone from police to school children.

“We’re having to lock down our schools … about once a week, because almost every one of those cars has armed” occupants, he stated. McLaughlin blamed the Biden administration for its incompetence regarding the border crisis. He went on to debunk Department of Homeland Security Secretary Mayorkas’ claim that the border is “closed,” pointing out that Mayorkas’ statement that the “90 percent” turnaway rate for illegal aliens only counts Mexican nationals.

Excluding Mexico, the Del Rio border sector near Uvalde has recorded illegal migrants hailing from 67 nations.

Texas Governor Greg Abbott told Breitbart Texas the State will immediately begin building border barriers in areas where migrants can easily cross the Rio Grande border with Mexico. The barriers will, in part, enable state law enforcement to arrest migrants for violations of state law.

“The influx across the border is out of control, and the Biden Administration has shown that is not going to step up and do its job,” Governor Abbott told Breitbart Texas shortly before Thursday’s border summit in Del Rio, Texas. “And amidst reports of even more people coming in across the border, we know we have to step up and do more.”

Abbott said Texas will immediately begin construction of border barriers in areas like Del Rio where migrants can easily cross unsecured sections of the border with Mexico. The governor picked Del Rio for the Border Summit due to the massive increases in illegal border crossings in this region. Del Rio Sector agents apprehended 27,890 migrants — a 1,118 percent increase over the May 2020 report of 2,289, Breitbart Texas reported on Thursday.

“The reason why we are here (Del Rio) is because of the massive increase,” the governor stated. Border crossings used to be highly “concentrated in the Rio Grande Valley,” he explained. “Now, you know we’re upstream from the Rio Grande Valley in the Del Rio Sector and the Del Rio sector is suffering from some of the largest increases.”

WASHINGTON — The Biden administration is restarting what are known as “lateral flights,” in which migrants crossing into the U.S. from Mexico in one area are transported to another part of the border and often sent back into Mexico from there, according to two immigrant advocacy groups familiar with the government’s decision.

Immigrants could be flown from the busy Rio Grande Valley or Del Rio, Texas, sectors into El Paso, for example, and then sent back across the border from there. Del Rio is 372 miles by air from El Paso.

The practice has been criticized by immigration advocates who say it makes some immigrants believe they will be able to stay in the U.S., only to find themselves expelled into an area of Mexico where they have no connections or resources to help them.-- excerpt, rest at link above --

From upholding our constitutional right to keep and bear arms, to addressing the border crisis, Republican governors continue to step up and fix the problems President Joe Biden neglects.

Missouri Gov. Mike Parson and Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis have already stepped up to the plate for their turn at bat against the president, but now it’s Nebraska Gov. Pete Ricketts’ turn to take a swing.

“Nebraska is stepping up to help Texas respond to the ongoing crisis on their border with Mexico,” Ricketts said in a statement on Saturday.

“The disastrous policies of the Biden-Harris administration created an immigration crisis on the border. While the federal government has fallen short in its response, Nebraska is happy to step up to provide assistance to Texas as they work to protect their communities and keep people safe,” he added.

Ricketts plans to send over two dozen Nebraska State Patrol Officers to Del Rio, Texas, to assist Texas officers with the crisis on America’s southern border, according to The Washington Examiner.-- excerpt, rest at link above --

South Dakota is the latest state to send its residents to the U.S.-Mexico border to help overwhelmed federal and local law enforcement respond to sustained high levels of illegal immigration.

But unlike Nebraska and Florida, which sent state troopers and local police officers to Texas earlier this month, South Dakota Gov. Kristi Noem will send in the National Guard so as not to risk a decline in public safety in her state.

“The Biden Administration has failed in the basic duty of the federal government: keeping the American people safe,” Noem, a Republican, said in a statement issued Tuesday. “The border is a national security crisis that requires the kind of sustained response only the National Guard can provide. We should not be making our communities less safe by sending our police or Highway Patrol to fix a long-term problem President Biden’s Administration seems unable or unwilling to solve. My message to Texas is this: help is on the way.”

Up to 50 South Dakota National Guard troops will be sent to the southern border for 30 to 60 days. Their duties have yet to be determined, Noem said. The deployment is also unusual in that it is being funded by a private donation. Republican megadonors Willis and Reba Johnson made an unspecified gift to the state through their foundation, Business Insider reported. The Posse Comitatus Act is a United States federal law (18 U.S.C. § 1385, original at 20 Stat. 152) signed on June 18, 1878, by President Rutherford B. Hayes which limits the powers of the federal government in the use of federal military personnel to enforce domestic policies within the United States. The Act was passed as an amendment to an army appropriation bill following the end of Reconstruction and was updated in 1956 and 1981.

The Act specifically applies only to the United States Army and, as amended in 1956, the United States Air Force.
