Desperate Haitians carrying children are wading through the neck-high waters of the Rio Grande river to try to reach Texas — as the US has begun the largest expulsion of migrants or refugees in decades.

More than 320 migrants were flown back to Haiti’s capital Port-au-Prince on three flights Sunday, and US authorities say they plan to expel the more than 12,600 migrants camped around a bridge in Del Rio, Texas.

But photographs at the crossing from Ciudad Acuña, Mexico show people still streaming in late Sunday — with many taking more dangerous risks to evade officials, some of who were on horseback using what appeared to be lariats as whips to keep them at bay.

Another held a diaper-wearing baby just above the water which was up to their chest.

Many tried crossing the river into the US about 1.5 miles east of the previous spot, but they were eventually stopped by Border Patrol agents on horseback and Texas law enforcement officials.

Agents yelled at the migrants who were crossing in the waist-deep river to get out of the water — with Reuters reporters seeing mounted officers wearing cowboy hats and vests emblazoned with “POLICE U.S. BORDER PATROL” blocking their path.-- excerpt, rest at link above --

Just spoke to this Haitian man at the international bridge in Del Rio. He told me he left Haiti in 2016 and has been living in Chile. He said not enough food is being provided & asked me when more is coming. Some men have asked if they’re going to be deported. @FoxNews


An illegal alien from Haiti complained to journalist Bill Melugin about the food being served at the makeshift refugee camp erect under the international bridge in Del Rio, Texas.

“He said not enough food is being provided and asked me when more is coming,” Melugin reported. “Some men have asked if they’re going to be deported.”

If this criminal is not satisfied with the accommodations being provided to him courtesy of American taxpayers, perhaps he would be more comfortable back in Haiti.

More than 14,000 people have congregated illegally underneath the Del Rio-Ciudad Acuna International Bridge on the Texas side of the southern border after having waded across the Rio Grande River from Mexico.

"Blue check-mark Libs demanding Biden have full open borders," Texas Republican Sen. Ted Cruz tweeted, with a photo of a man crossing the river on crutches. "They see nothing wrong with 10,500 illegal immigrants massing under the Del Rio bridge, and 1000s more coming every day. This is not 'enlightened.' It's inhumane and barbaric."

With the situation deteriorating as more people arrived this week, the Department of Homeland Security (DHS) announced on Saturday that within 24-48 hours, U.S. Customs and Border Protection was adding 400 agents and officers to deal with now roughly 14,000 people, mostly from Haiti, who have massed under the bridge. DHS temporarily closed the Del Rio Port of Entry, and traffic was rerouted to Eagle Pass, roughly one hour away.

DHS says it is coordinating with Immigration and Customs Enforcement and the U.S. Coast Guard to transport migrants to processing locations, including 2,000 already reportedly removed so far. DHS says the plan is for them to be "swiftly taken into custody, processed, and removed from the United States consistent with our laws and policy."

But observers outside of the entry to a border fence east of the port of entry, where media trucks are congregated and residents are taking pictures, have counted only 4 to 5 CBP buses leaving the area, with each holding roughly 50 people or less. -- excerpt, rest at link above --

CIUDAD ACUNA, Mexico – Federal homeland security agencies are well into a multi-faceted, expensive operation to quickly reduce the size and dawning political damage of a massive illegal immigrant shantytown that has expanded to 15,000 in a single week in Del Rio, just across the Rio Grande from this Mexican city. It is perhaps the largest such migrant camp ever to have formed in the United States, and the Texas Department of Public Safety has formed a Maginot Line of cruisers blocking off the flow from across the river while the Department of Homeland Security is using a fleet of school buses to relocate the thousands who got in.

But as federal and state authorities work to shutter the migrant shantytown, a basic necessary question has gone unasked and unanswered: Why did this happen?

The answer to that might better inform any American response to make sure it never happens again, with an encampment of that size’s latent public safety and national security threat.

To find the answer, this writer came to Ciudad Acuna, the city through which the migrants had passed to form the encampment and asked several dozen of them what happened.

The surprising answer, which the migrants provided independently in different places and at different times, was universal: on Sunday, September 12, the Mexican government effectively sent a mass of migrants it had bottled up for months in its southern states up to the American border. This move, which appears to have been done under the cover of Mexico's independence week of celebration known as El Grito, essentially foisted a humanitarian problem onto the Americans in a single week.

A quick background is necessary to understand what the migrants were saying. In short, when it was newly installed in January, the Biden administration began to pressure Mexico to maintain and use its National Guard and immigration bureaucracy to slow the flow of expected caravans and of tens of thousands of Haitians and other migrants coming in from all over the world. This was a fairly quiet diplomatic campaign, and it coincided with billions in promised U.S. aid and other benefits such as covid vaccines. It was a different approach from the Trump style of threatening to damage the Mexican economy with tariffs unless the leadership slowed U.S.-bound illegal immigration coming through Guatemala.

In response to Biden’s softer approach with gifts, Mexico apparently responded with a lighter version of a Trump-era tactic, which was to require that migrants entering from Guatemala be held in the southern state of Chiapas, in the border city of Tapachula, until they applied for and obtained temporary legal permits. National Guard roadblocks reinforced the policy.

As CIS reported in March from Mexico, many thousands of immigrants willing to invest in bribes and smuggling fees obviously find ways around the National Guard. But many thousands of others chose not to invest in these expensive end-runs and stayed in Tapachula for months hoping for cheaper Mexican papers solution.-- excerpt, rest at link above --

Following the roundup of Haitian migrants in Del Rio, Texas by Border Patrol agents on horseback over the weekend, Biden administration officials are slamming other Biden administration officials for the treatment of these migrants.

On Tuesday, Vice President Kamala Harris condemned the actions of the Border Patrol Agents, calling it "horrible," adding that the United States needs to step up to assist the nation of Haiti with basic needs.

"What I saw depicted about those individuals on horseback treating human beings the way they were is horrible. I fully support what is happening right now, which is a thorough investigation into what exactly is going on there," said Harris.

"Human beings should never be treated that way, and I am deeply troubled about it," Harris added.

Harris noted that "the whole point is that we have to understand Haiti. I mean, talk about a country that has just experienced so much tragedy that has bene about natural disasters."

A recent incident in Britain highlights yet again how it is well-nigh impossible nowadays to have a coherent and honest public conversation about the nature and magnitude of the jihad terror threat. Any attempt to do so is drowned out by charges of “bigotry,” “racism,” and “Islamophobia,” such that we now have a generation of people who believe reflexively that any opposition to jihad violence and Sharia oppression is ipso facto “hateful,” and thus must not be given voice. Those who dare to break this rule will be duly punished. This was the recent experience of a British woman named Sheila Daly, a councillor at Kingshurst Parish Council in Birmingham. She stepped out of line, and raised unacceptable questions. She knows now not to do such a thing again.

According to the UK’s Metro, Daly, 78, uttered remarks at a Kingshurst Parish Council meeting that went beyond all the bounds of present-day acceptable discourse, straying far beyond woke boundaries. She committed her transgression at a meeting that was called “to discuss the new arrivals, many of whom were flown into the Birmingham area after leaving Kabul.”

Daly, Metro reported, “asked if council officials were prepared for the Afghans to begin ‘blowing us up’, a comment that drew audible gasps from others at the meeting.”

Audible gasps. In this face of this general horror over her words, Daly tried to explain: “she said she did not believe all the Afghans who had come to the UK had worked with British forces and spoke of her suspicion the Taliban would try to ‘smuggle people into the country to cause mayhem, blow us up, or do whatever.’” She “insisted she was not racist as she used to foster Asian children and said: ‘I would take a family in and look after them. But there are people in this country [whose] children have gone off to a war they didn’t want to fight in Afghanistan. They’ve been killed or maimed. Kamala Harris undercut Joe Biden late on Tuesday when asked about the thousands of Haitian migrants crossing the U.S.-Mexico border, calling for the Biden administration to do more for Haiti.

“The whole point is that we have to understand Haiti,” Harris replied when asked about the reported 15,000 mostly Haitian migrants currently being held under a bridge in Del Rio, Texas.

Harris also tried claiming that natural disasters in Haiti and their president being assassinated in July have played a role in thousands of Haitians trying to come to America.

“We really have to do a lot more to recognize that as a member of the Western Hemisphere, we gotta support some very basic needs that the people of Haiti have,” Harris said.

Harris also reacted to photos of U.S. border enforcement officials riding horses and confronting migrants crossing the border.

The Biden administration has promised that they would quickly expel the flood of Haitian immigrants using Trump’s policy to allow for rapid expulsions.

The New York Post reported just two days ago that the administration was preparing to deport nearly 13,000 of these immigrants.

The rapid expulsions were made possible by a pandemic-related authority adopted by former President Donald Trump in March 2020 that allows for migrants to be immediately removed from the country without an opportunity to seek asylum.

We are learning today, however, that this big lie is coming unraveled.

The Associated Press is now reporting that Biden administration officials are setting ‘thousands’ of Haitians free inside the US despite the promises to deport them back to Haiti:

Many Haitian migrants camped in a small Texas border town are being released in the United States, two U.S. officials said, undercutting the Biden administration’s public statements that the thousands in the camp faced immediate expulsion.

Haitians have been freed on a “very, very large scale” in recent days, according to one U.S. official who put the figure in the thousands. The official, with direct knowledge of operations who was not authorized to discuss the matter Tuesday and thus spoke on condition of anonymity

Many have been released with notices to appear at an immigration office within 60 days, an outcome that requires less processing time from Border Patrol agents than ordering an appearance in immigration court and points to the speed at which authorities are moving, the official said.-- excerpt, rest at link above --

Former Democratic Rep. Tulsi Gabbard sharply denounced President Joe Biden Saturday over the ongoing border crisis, comparing Biden, whom she called her friend, to an "autocrat" for attacking Border Patrol agents who were falsely accused of abusing Haitian migrants.

What did Biden say?

Biden commented on the controversy involving the mounted Border Patrol agents on Friday by regurgitating the debunked narrative of migrant abuse and promising the Border Patrol agents involved would "pay."

"It was horrible [what] you saw. To see people treated like they did [sic]. Horses nearly running people over and people being strapped," Biden said at the White House.
