The Houston rodeo isn’t going to make it out of the chute this year.
The 2021 Houston Livestock Show and Rodeo (HLSR) has been canceled “due to the ongoing health situation.” In a press release, HLSR President Chris Boleman also cited money troubles for the rodeo’s cancellation.
“Several factors contributed to the decision, from a community health and safety perspective, as well as a financial one,” the release reads.
“Above all, the health and safety of the community is the Rodeo’s top priority, and after much consultation with local and state officials and medical experts, Rodeo officials concluded that canceling the 2021 event was the right decision, with community health at the forefront of the decision.”-- excerpt, rest at link above --

Sad. It brings joy to many many thousands of people, and for the young people.
My wife was a Livestock Member and Volunteer for years on the Special Children's Committee, which took thousands of special needs kids to the rodeo and treated them with entertainment they otherwise could not experience.
Now that experience is absent from the life of those who need it so much.
