Dr. Drew says press should be 'held accountable' for coronavirus panic: 'They are hurting people'

Celebrity physician Dr. Drew Pinsky isn’t changing his tune about the novel coronavirus, declaring Monday that the news media should be “held accountable” for the damage they’re doing to people’s lives and the economy by over-hyping the virus.

“A bad flu season is 80,000 dead. We’ve got about 18,000 dead from influenza this year; we have 100 from corona,” Dr. Pinsky told CBS Local’s DJ Sixsmith in an interview.

“Which should you be worried about, influenza or corona, 100 versus 18,000? It’s not a trick question,” he continued. “Look, everything that’s going on, with New York cleaning the subways and everyone using Clorox wipes, and get your flu shot, which should be the other message, that’s good, that’s a good thing. So I have no problems with the behaviors.

“What I have a problem with is the panic and the fact that businesses are getting destroyed and people’s lives are being upended. Not by the virus, but by the panic,” he explained. “The panic must stop, and the press, they really, somehow, need to be held accountable, because they are hurting people.”

Dr. Pinsky went on to call the news media’s coronavirus coverage “irresponsible” and “excessive,” and he downplayed the severity of the illness, saying “several people in this building probably have it and don’t know it.”

I wonder how many lost lives from the flu could have been saved if the media had spent 1/8 of the time spent on Corona had been spent reminding people of the steps to prevent the flu.

Companies are rushing to cut off their noses to spite their face (symbolically) as they call for shutdowns and 3 week closures. This will put a lot of businesses out of business. Which will drive up the unemployment rate. Which will all fall on Trump, ultimately.

I'll say it again. This virus release should be considered an act of war, even tho nothing else the ChiComs has done has been called what it is. But it won't be called what it is. The enemy isn't at the gate. The enemy is firmly entrenched inside the gate. And has been for decades.

Two weeks and the crisis subsides. The President said early on, and was lambasted for it, that this will calm down with the warmer spring months. He will, again, be proven right.

I suspect the "15 days" in yesterday's guidelines came from POTUS and not the CDC --- who would carry this pandemic bullshit on for months.
