Pope Francis sick a day after supporting coronavirus sufferers

Pope Francis has come down with a “slight indisposition,” forcing him to cancel a planned Mass in Rome, just a day after he expressed his solidarity with coronavirus sufferers around the world — and as the disease continues to spread across Italy.

The illness has forced the 82-year-old pontiff to nix a penitential Mass, marking the start of Lent, that he’d planned to celebrate at the St. John Lateran basilica across town with Roman clergy, the Vatican said.

Francis will proceed with the rest of his planned work Thursday, but “preferred to stay near Santa Marta,” the Vatican hotel where he lives, officials said.

The Vatican has not specified the nature of the pope’s illness, but he was seen coughing and blowing his nose during Ash Wednesday Mass.

Francis has not specifically met with coronavirus sufferers, but shook hands with the faithful in the front row during the audience. He also kissed a baby during his popemobile spin through St. Peter’s Square and greeted visiting bishops.

There is panic. Gold prices also went down today which is a good indication of that.

Varney actually said there are 8000 new cases in California. What a stupid error! There are 8000 people being watched. It's statements like that that fuel a panic. As a registered nurse, I think the questions to ask are: who died? Age? Health status? Impaired immune system? Comorbid conditions? Most deaths are in China where the people breath filthy air and no doubt have impaired respiration. Since this virus causes cough, shortness of breath, look at the risk factors in the areas most affected.

There are a multitude of corona viruses and most are survivable if you're healthy. The only reason to panic is if this was a weaponized strain that came out of the Wuhan lab through selling of lab animals in the market. If so, we are toast. Will our government and health officials be honest about this? Are the Chinese being honest?

I think the CDC needs to ascertain where the supposed community-acquired case in California came from before they shoot their mouths off about community transmission. Unless of course, it is a bioweapon, in which case as I sad earlier, we are toast.


The Constitution matters, at least it should.
