President Biden’s controversial moratorium on evictions for delinquent tenants is facing another challenge in court, just days after a federal judge upheld it.
Two chapters of the National Association of Realtors and one group of landlords asked the Washington, D.C. Court of Appeals to block the Biden administration’s new eviction moratorium.
Realtors have called for “immediate action,” citing Joe Biden’s remarks in which he stated that reinstating the policy could protect tenants for a while, even if the courts ultimately rule it as illegal.
“Given the President’s statement that this extension of the moratorium and any litigation in its defense are meant to buy time to keep an unlawful policy in place for as long as possible, this Court should issue an immediate administrative order vacating the stay while it considers this motion,” realtors wrote in their argument.-- excerpt, rest at link above --
