Police in a Minneapolis suburb shot and killed a carjacker on Sunday after he initially fired multiple rounds at them. Black Lives Matter protesters then knelt for a moment of silence and gathered outside Gov. Tim Walz’s mansion soon after—but gave up and went elsewhere when they learned the carjacker was white.
According to a press release from the Burnsville Police Department, the suspect was “believed to be a white male in his 20s” and later died at the Hennepin County Medical Center from his gunshot injuries.
“Officers first encountered the suspect driving a vehicle with stolen plates which the suspect crashed,” the press release reads. “A short time later, police were notified the same male was involved in the carjacking of a female at gunpoint. Burnsville Police pursued the carjacked car and the suspect allegedly fired shots at pursuing officers before crashing the vehicle and continuing to fire at officers. Multiple officers returned fire.”
Fox 9 reporter Mitti Hicks captured video of the kneeling protesters before they were to venture over to Burnsville, and then tweeted less than an hour later that the protesters -- excerpt, rest at link above --
