Multiple state labs found problems with coronavirus test kits issued by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) centered on inconclusive lab results, Dr. Nancy Messonnier, director of one of the CDC’s centers, said on Feb. 12.

Kits were sent to all 50 states, some of which already tested them as part of a normal procedure. Some state labs reported some “inconclusive lab results,” Messonnier told reporters on a phone call.

Yeah, could be several things. Could even be what they say it is. Or, it could be the odd nature of the virus, or it could be that they want to lessen the numbers of positives, or it could be that government agencies do shitty science.

A Chinese student has reportedly sneaked out of coronavirus epicentre Wuhan and hitchhiked more than 570 miles to Shanghai to be able to catch a plane next month to study in the United States.

The young man, named by police as 22-year-old Liu, said he simply strolled onto a motorway, found a lorry and spent a day on the road before reaching the financial hub on the country's eastern coast.

He did not revealed how he passed the many checkpoints of Wuhan, which went into a lockdown late last month. -- excerpt, rest at link above --

Wuhan Goes Into Lock Down, Rescuers Rush To Save Abandoned Animals Trapped In Their Homes

Volunteers with over 10 rescues are rushing against the clock to save the helpless animals left behind from the recent Coronavirus outbreak in Wuhan. With many citizens unable to bring their pets along, this left up to 50,000 pets trapped in their homes without any help.

The recent Coronavirus outbreak has affected the lives of not only the citizens of Wuhan, but also the local fur babies. Being at the epicenter of the health crisis, many Wuhan citizens planned to leave their homes in the days leading up to January 23rd, with the hopes of the mania settling down in the days to come. While this can’t be said for all the families involved, many families left several bowls of food for their pets in the belief that they would only be away for a short time.

As the threat of the Coronavirus began to grow there was an official travel ban set on the city of Wuhan. While this prevented travel outside of the city, this also prevented many of the 5 million citizens that had evacuated from entering the city again. The city has been on lockdown since January 23rd to help prevent the spread of this illness and has left thousands of pets trapped inside of their homes with a dwindling supply of food and water.

Animal rescues in the area estimate there are at least 20,000 to 30,000 animals trapped in and around Wuhan-- excerpt, rest at link above --

Sen. Tom Cotton said Sunday that China is "still lying" about the gravity of the coronavirus outbreak that has killed more than 1,660 people.

"The situation is very grave in part because … China was lying from the beginning, and they’re still lying today," Cotton, R-Ark., said. "And also because there are so many unknowns about this virus. For example, how many people one person can infect once they have the virus?"

Cotton called for a "targeted travel ban" on flights from China to the U.S. in late January before the Trump administration cracked down on such travel two weeks ago.

Apple ceases business in China amid coronavirus; Feds seize bogus Super Bowl merchandise

Apple on Monday said it will likely fall short of its revenue guidance in the second quarter due to the ongoing impact of coronavirus on its operations in China.

“Work is starting to resume around the country, but we are experiencing a slower return to normal conditions than we had anticipated,” Apple said in a press release. “As a result, we do not expect to meet the revenue guidance we provided for the March quarter due to two main factors.”

Apple said that "worldwide iPhone supply will be temporarily constrained" as coronavirus impacts its manufacturing efforts in China. While none of Apple's production facilities are located in Hubei province, the epicenter of the outbreak, the manufacturing sites have been slow to return to normal operations.
