Quantus Polls and News @QPollsandnews I am gonna keep hammering this.
Below is a look at core PCE and Median Weekly Wages. Core PCE is defined as
"In the United States, the Core Personal Consumption Expenditure Price Index provides a measure of the prices paid by people for domestic purchases of goods and services, excluding the prices of food and energy. The core PCE is the Fed's preferred inflation measure. The central bank has a 2 percent target."
Core PCE is indexed against median weekly wages at a quarterly rate. This is one of the best visuals that viscerally indicates what is going on with prices compared to wages.
YoY changes are useful, but they don't do well for long ball analysis.
Blue line = core PCE
Red line = Median Weekly Wage growth

"I wish it need not have happened in my time," said Frodo.
"So do I," said Gandalf, "and so do all who live to see such times. But that is not for them to decide. All we have to decide is what to do with the time that is given us."
